Dear readers, how are you all? Have you set some new year resolutions like rising early, a morning walk, or hitting the Gym to add some extra energy and value to your life? If yes, you are on the way to reinvent yourself, your true potential, and your real power, then congratulations!!
Would you like to hear what I’m up to here? Until recently, I would go for a walk daily, indulge in self-talk, reflect, yet I didn’t make any effort to share my unique ideas, or the chunks of reflections went through my mind.
Most of the time, I focused much on universal stuff such as eating, sleeping, write sometimes, read something from here and there, attend toastmaster clubs, run behind the kids, breaking head for their eating habits, and occasionally busy running errands.
Lately, I have realized that most of the experiences are only valuable when shared. Stories matter in our life irrespective of where we are now. Every day either we create a story or become a part of someone’s story. I believe that sharing our experiences can heal, that we are all connected. Our experiences shape our lives and give us reason to believe tomorrow will be better than today. I felt pinched from the bottom of my core. Without much delay, I decided to share my unique experience of either morning walks or other things that I observe, understand, and reflect on, and Now I’m here to pay it forward. Together let’s learn, love, and live the most fulfilling epic life in our hands.
Last week while I helped my son’s History homework, where he caught me asking some questions on Stone age, Bronze age, etc.; though I responded reasonably, my mind mobbed to the word “walking.” I have always been a great fan of the good old-fashioned walk. Whenever I get a chance, I would take a walk instead of a taxi, car, or bus. For every place I’ve lived and visited, many of my most distinct memories are from a walk in that place: At my native Kundapur, Bangalore, Goa, Hyderabad, Delhi, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Bombay, Dubai, and here in Abuja, Nigeria. When I walk down the streets, I learn a handful of experiences on life, architecture, culture, the landscape, the smells, and the sounds that make each place unique for me.
I have distinct memories from my time at my native Kundapur; siblings and I used to walk to school daily, morning, afternoon, and evening for about a one-kilometre distance. We played on the roads, puddles, climbed the trees to pluck blueberries and cashews on our way to the school. Now I know those were the days I fell in love with nature, and it’s one of my blessings, I’m proud to say.
After living for few years here in Abuja, I had to go to school to drop kids; I’d choose to walk, head off down the street at morning time, then stroll right past the school and take a lovely one-hour walk. I felt so free taking a walk along the road that packed with lush green on both sides, even on the coldest and windiest of days – I felt like I was on the edge of the world, this is the time of the day, I think most happier and inspire as I get ideas for my books.
I like to walk! I want to talk on those walks!
Since ages people used to walk for ages, from one place to another, searching for food, shelter, and a better life, human beings have set out pilgrimages to walk to a sacred place or their place of origin throughout history. I still remember the days my grandparents would walk for miles to see their relatives, attend family functions, and arrange groceries.
I know this brainy planet has crafted us, and when I go for a walk, nature whispers, “I’m beautiful, ever-changing, ever-growing, and every time I unfold ineffable truth and riddles which I bear at the core of my abode. keeps your senses open and alert to connect with me.” I continued to walk around a misty garden, pastel highlands stood by giant trees, above my head, an infinite blue sky, laser-focused birds scaling high and high to make their living, or viewing life from a different angle? Might be.
As I gazed out on the other side, the crazy clouds were racing as if someone held a contest before they broke down into the water. Light breeze swap across my body before they disappear into distant lands or a Lake.
To my left random trees were conceived by a roaming air.
On to my right, birds and insects were feasting the hanging fruit endlessly, as if it’s their very owned kitchen.
And down, next to my feet, a tiny creature like ants and termites planning for the rainy season, the ugly cocoon dreams to transform, a hungry frog is focusing on catching its prey out of hunger.
Do you agree, nature is uniquely sharing its story, sometimes with melody and other times a roar, showing its hidden secrets, indeed layer by layer, as we could consume only a little at a time? Every sensation in nature has got the power to soothe our mind and body in every sense. Whether you live in the village, apartment, walk out, watch out, open your mind, listen to the gentle melody of the planet. You are benefitting beyond your imagination.
ONE NEVER DEPRESSED WHILE WALKING!
